Life is a Highway

The past few weeks have been really up and down for Liz and I. I have been a true jerk in all senses of the word and am not proud of what i was doing and I am so sorry for that.  We had some close calls and some prayers answered and i hope that even with my idiotic and selfish ( non caring ) moments we are on the right track again in our marriage, as a couple and as a family.

This past weekend was one of fun and adventure ( lots of driving, sorry Liz ) and good family time.

A few days before our little excursion i kept wanting to go do something. I threw out some ideas to Liz and she said i should decide. So i went and looked at some hotels and could not make up my mind, so i said lets just go and when we get somewhere, we will just get a room. What a mistake that was.

This is one of the 4 Elk Antler Arches that are on the corners of the Town Square in Jackson Hole
We decided to go to Jackson Hole, since it was not far and its a place we both like. We started the drive and made sure we put in Mary Poppins for McKinley.   We drove up 1-15 to Idaho and crossed over to Soda Springs and took a back road into Star Valley and made it to Alpine and the start of the Canyon over to Jackson Hole. The drive up was beautiful and McKinley was well behaved the whole time, since we had Mary to keep her occupied.   We arrived in Jackson Hole and decided we would stay the night, well we checked out 5 hotels and each one was booked solid and the last one we talked to said all the hotels in Jackson Hole were booked as were all the ones in Alpine. So we called Macks Inn about an hour from Jackson heading towards Yellowstone and they were booked as well.  There was some big Conference going on in Jackson. It was really crowded.  So i told Liz we could go to Pinedale, its not far from Jackson and its on the way home, so we called a hotel in Pinedale and got a great room, they were running specials and we reserved it and had dinner at the Teton Steakhouse ( not the best meal, could have done more ), and then we went out to see the Tetons and head to Pinedale.

There was a fire going on around Jackson Hole, this Helicopter was getting buckets of water.

Some of the Fall Colors we enjoyed.
We got to Pinedale and got McKinley ready for bed. One thing we have learned is that if we want a good nights sleep, we put McKinley in the bathtub with her fan from home and she sleeps all night. Its been great traveling with her in Hotels because its like she has her own little room. And we can stay up and watch TV and not having to worry about her staying up all night, because if she stays in with us every time we move, she wakes up likes its time to play.

We got up this morning and we had breakfast and we went to the Mountain Man Museum that is in Pinedale and had a fun time looking at all the exhibits. McKinley was a little scared about the 12 foot tall Mt Man, but she warmed up.

This is a full size Teepee. It was huge inside.

I just thought this was cool.

A Temporary shelter, but some Indians lived in these year round.

We then went and looked and walked a little at Fremont Lake and i showed Liz the peaks of the Wind River Mountain Range.

Liz is putting out the vibe.

Ready, set, Hike
We then started the drive home and saw lots of beautiful sage brush and antelope. We had a good fast trip and we now have Marry Poppins memorized.
