Today Liz, McKinley and I, decided to get out of the house and go on a family outing. As most of you know, Liz and I love to travel and enjoy the sites and little quirky historical places. So we try to get out at least once a month to just drive and see whats around.
First we made a stop in Evanston, Wyoming. Liz's dad was up for work from Houston, Tx. We had tried to meet the day before, but the weather was horrible. So this morning Liz and I both agreed that we should go up and see him and let him enjoy McKinley. So we drove up the short distance to Evanston and had lunch with Liz's dad Steve. McKinley loved it. She did not want Grandpa to put her down while we all ate, she wanted his attention. It was a lot of fun.
After we dropped Grandpa off at the airport we drove down to Antelope Island. Antelope Island is an island in the middle of the great Salt Lake. It is one of Utah's best state parks. Liz had never been and she was excited to see the herd of Buffalo that is on the island. We went to the Visitor Center and looked at the displays and found out that the Buffalo were scattered all over, but there were 3 good areas to see them. So we went to find them. The weather was awesome. Not to cold, about 50 degrees, sunny, and blue sky.
Seeing the big Buffalo up close was awesome. They are really used to people. We saw some guy get about 2 feet from 2 big bulls, and they didn't even care. What a moron. McKinley loved getting out of the car and walking around and picking up rocks and picking the weeds and grass. And she even spotted animals before we did. She is getting so smart and observant.
We saw: Lots of Buffalo, Deer, Antelope, Jack Rabbits, 2 Coyotes going after some Antelope, Ospreys, lots of ducks, water fowl, lots of hawks, falcons, and some sort of rodent.
We really enjoyed this little day trip. We are planning on going again and this time camping overnight. I have heard that the camping at night is great, since you have the stars, the lake, and the lights of SLC in the background.
We also had a fun day on Saturday celebrating St. Patties Day. McKinley go to dress up in her cute little outfit. She enjoys being oh so pretty.
We hope you are all doing well.
Love,
J, L, and M. Marshall
